October 2012 Transitions

Prometheus is pleased to welcome Julia Wierski as the new Director of Development and Communications.  Julia joined Prometheus in October 2012 after several years of working with the organization. In 2010, she worked on encroachment notification for LPFMs, and more recently she worked with our Policy Director, Brandy Doyle, as a campaign associate. She is excited to connect supporters to Prometheus to ensure that our great work will continue for many years to come!

Julia grew up in the Philadelphia area, and has been a radio enthusiast since childhood. Whether it was making her own crystal radio set or creating audio tape archives of the airwaves, she has an extensive knowledge and interest in the medium. Julia's work within the field includes ten years as a DJ and consultant at WPRB FM in Princeton, NJ. She also worked as an associate producer for WHYY in Philadelphia and volunteered for WFMU in Jersey City, NJ. She is also a member of the Broadcast Pioneers of Philadelphia. She has an Associate Degree in Communications from Camden County College.

Welcome Interns

Prometheus is also proud to welcome our newest interns for the Fall 2012 semester!

Interns Will and Lita in the office

Chen Ma

IT Intern

Chen is a Computer and Communication Systems graduate student. He brings his experience in high frequency radio and signal processing technology to Prometheus to help us with IT support and website maintenance. We’re glad he’s in the office – we always need help with database updates and web page wrangling!

Will Floyd

Technical Training and Support Intern

Will joins us as a recent graduate from Oberlin College. He brings his experience as an engineer and general manager at WOBC to help Prometheus prepare applicants for the upcoming application window. Currently he's working on guides that break down FCC jargon into more reader-friendly language. Will has been interested in Prometheus' mission and work in the field for awhile now, and we're happy to have him on board!

Lita Farquhar

Expand Community Radio Campaign Intern

Lita comes to us from the Washington DC area and is in her Junior year at Temple University pursuing a degree in Anthropology with a minor in Public Health. She loves talking with LPFM applicants and will be interviewing several groups to find out what work they're doing to get people involved in community radio in their areas. She's also answering the phones at our help desk, so you'll be sure to speak with her soon!
